Wow things are getting crazy out there! Are you being affected by this rising inflation? I mean how can you not be even for those not on a tight budget I am sure they are noticing a change in there budget.
I went to buy oatmeal the other day and it is anywhere from $3.50-$5 a lb! A year ago I could buy it for about $1.50! As much as we complain that is not going to do much. But what we need is action!
So what are we momma suppose to do? Well first there are many programs out there to help others here are some of them.
Assistance Programs
- WIC
- Food stamps or SNAP
- Tanaf or welfare
- LIHEAP or fuel assistance
- weatherization program
- local food pantries
- Catholic charities
- local churches
- local town offices
Please if you know others put them in the comments below. We need to work together in hard times.
We have had many seasons in our life. Some good some not so good financially. More not so good. I was a homeless single mom with 2 children at 19 so I know a thing or two about hard times. So my goal is to bless others with some of the knowledge and skills that the Lord had showed me over the years.
Some people you think of as having a hard time might be those on welfare or food stamps. But really there are alot of people feeling the burden or hardship. Some needing to change professions after the recent pandemic. Others job loss. Still others were middle class but are feeling the pinch of the rising inflation.
While many assume that the look of poverty is getting assistance from a program. That those people are some how lazy or inferior I really beg to differ. Lots of people who are getting assistance are hard working individuals just struggling. If you need help please go get help for your family.
I think so many feel judged if they get help but there is really no reason for that. Some peoples poverty looks different some people are swimming in credit card debit. While others might be pretending all is well but they are taking money from one bill to pay another bill monthly. I think the best thing to do is start at the beginning admitting there is an issue so you can tackle it head on!
Steps to get on track
Here are some steps that might help you.
- Recognize things are tight
- Write out all your expenses.
- Make a number 1-10 or more of the most important to the least important
- make a zero based budget.
- look for items to drop
- look for variables like insurance call around and look for better rates
- food budgets can often come down
SO I hope those help you. I am going to be sharing some more ideas. But for now I wanted to compile some WIC meals for those mommas with young children. I hope it blesses you!
