Well with the 4th of July right around the corner I wanted to make the kids some shirts. Which will probably be worn all summer. Getting dirtier daily and weekly from all the muddy fun adventures! But that is the wonderful life on a homestead with 14 children!

Trip about Freedom
4th of July the representation of freedom. Recently we enjoyed a long journey from our state of Maine down to Virgina with the theme freedom on our minds. Standing at the statue of liberty I felt so blessed to be there! Both Lady Liberty and Ellis Island represent freedom. So many we fleeing there own countries to be free. Lots of those seeking religious freedom. Our journey of freedom continued as we journeyed to Williamsburg and Jamestown.
It really has had me reflecting. Over the past few years I feel as though some of those freedoms in America have been squelched. Over the years it seems like if your plan is not the plan of the going agenda your plan maybe wrong. In all that I look for the positives.
Freedom in Christ
Freedom in Christ because He lives I can face tomorrow. My hope and strength is undoubtable on the Lord. With the 4th is celebrating the declaration of Independence. Did you know that? Sometimes I feel like it might just be another excuse for people to get drunk.
I struggle on the 4th a bit a few years ago my dear friend lost her son on the 4th when he thought shooting a firecracker off his head sounded fun. I was with her the days after… her morning and outcry for her lost son. She ultimately feel into a deep depression requiring medical attention. My heart still hearts for her on that day.
But I am so thankful for our freedom in America to have the hope found only in Jesus. To know Jesus as my Savior and to write it publicly in this post. Praise the Lord for that. So we will celebrate it all with joy!
On to the Shirts
So let’s talk about these shirts! There is something so cute about a hand print. Little kindergartener style mommy watch me grow type hand prints. Imagining those precious hands in my own. So we put together these adorable shirts.
The total cost per shirt was around $2.50. Making it a fun and affordable activity!

How to
- Get a t shirt in your childs size. I am using boys multipack teeshirt making each shirt about $1.75
- I used true Navy paint to paint childs hand then place on shirt
- Next I used flag red to make the stripes with a paint brush
- Tip put a piece of cardboard or cutting board in-between the shirt front and back
